Train, mentor, and evaluate laboratory staff Job Summary: A Biomedical Laboratory Supervisor oversees the daily operations of a biomedical or clinical laboratory, ensuring accurate and timely testing, compliance with laboratory standards, effective staff performance, and proper maintenance of equipment and supplies. Key Responsibilities: Supervise and coordinate daily laboratory operations and testing activities. Assign work schedules and monitor the performance of laboratory personnel. Ensure accurate, reliable, and timely processing of laboratory tests and results. Review laboratory procedures and ensure compliance with quality\-control standards. Monitor the proper operation, calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of laboratory equipment. Ensure compliance with applicable healthcare, laboratory, safety, and regulatory requirements. Implement and monitor quality assurance and quality\-control programs. Investigate testing errors, discrepancies, and equipment problems and implement corrective actions. Maintain accurate laboratory records, reports, test results, and quality documentation. Manage laboratory supplies, reagents, inventory, and procurement requirements. Train, mentor, and evaluate laboratory staff. Develop and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) and laboratory protocols. Coordinate with physicians, nurses, researchers, hospital departments, and external laboratories when required. Promote proper infection control, biosafety, and workplace safety practices. Prepare operational reports and recommend improvements to laboratory processes. Support audits, inspections, accreditation activities, and continuous\-improvement initiatives. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Biomedical Science, Biology, or a related field. Relevant professional license or certification where required by local regulations. Several years of laboratory experience, preferably with supervisory responsibilities. Strong knowledge of laboratory testing procedures, quality management, biosafety, and equipment operation. Experience with laboratory information systems (LIS) is an advantage. Strong leadership, organizational, analytical, and problem\-solving skills. Excellent attention to detail and ability to work effectively in a regulated laboratory environment.
